Wildside Lingerie

Did you guys hear? Fall is coming – can I get a collective HOORAY! out there anyone? I love Fall weather, and even though we have to wait for it a few weeks later than everyone else down here in Florida, that doesn’t stop me from adding some of my favorite Fall patterns to my wardrobe. La Lilouche Lily Pearl Balconette Bra

Buying a bra that fits online can be intimating, but it doesn't need to be! All you need to be successful is a measuring tape and a few basic tips.

First, start with your measurements.

Take your measuring tape and pull it tight around your under bust. You want to be able to breathe but you also don't want the tape to be loose. This is your band measurement.

Next, make sure you're wearing your best fitting bra. Take the tape and measure tightly around the widest part of your breasts. This is your bust measurement.

Now, enter those measurements into this bra calculator from The Sophisticated Pair. This calculator does not add any inches to your band size, but if you're someone who prefers using the plus four method just add four inches to your band size measurement.
Please note that bra size calculators only offer a starting point. We highly recommend you to get a professional fitting at least once a year and specially when you go thru lifestyle changes like pregnancy, weight loss or weight gain per example.

How should my bra fit?

A bra that fits should look a feel a certain way (we'll get to that in a minute). However, like everything this can be very individual. For instance, some women always have issues getting the central gore to tack and don't worry about it. As you try more bras, you'll figure out more about your body and what works for your shape.

In general, here are some rules to follow.

1. Your bra band should be tight enough that you can only slip two fingers under it. If you can pull it out several inches from your back, it's way too loose. This is important because most of the support comes from the band and not the rest of the bra, so you're doing your back and your breasts a favor by wearing a tighter one.

2. The central gore (the part that connects the cups in the middle) should lie flat on your chest. If you have part of your breast tissue pushing it out, the bra is too small.

3. All of your breast tissue should be encased in the bra. This applies to plunge bras too! A plunge neckline and awkward quadraboob are entirely differently things. If you have tissue spilling out the top, the bottom or the sides then your bra is too small. If the cups gape at the top, your bra is too big.

4. Always tighten the straps to the right point for you on any bra. If you're short, some bras will have straps that are way too long and uncomfortable. Make sure that the straps are tight but not cutting into you. It's uncomfortable and looks bad under clothes. Again, the support should be coming from the band and not the straps.

Summer is the perfect time to jet set off to a fabulous location, kick back and relax with your favorite cocktail. One of my favorite parts about planning for a big trip is planning my vacation wardrobe! Planning what lingerie to bring is as important as your outerwear choices and you always want to keep your location in mind. Let’s go through some examples, shall we?

1 // Bora Bora, Tahiti – ahh, the exotic and wildly free spirited vacation spot. This is the only place on the list I haven’t been, and I can’t wait until the husband and I plan a trip here. Lots of people are scared to buy great lingerie because they don't know how to wash it. I actually held off on buying my first silk robe for just this reason. I finally took the plunge when I realized that my dad had been wearing silk shirts for years and washing them very successfully - this from the man who can barely boil water!

The truth is that it's very easy to wash almost any kind of fabric as long as you have the right tools and know what you're doing. Dump one of these in your hotel sink along with your lingerie when you're traveling for an easy washing routine.

If you're washing your lingerie at home regularly like you should be, you'll also need some kind of tub to wash things in. The best kinds are round and wide, but you can also use those square tubs from big box stores in a pinch. Most importantly, make sure you wash each new piece of lingerie separately the first time. You never know what will bleed and what won't and it's easy to accidentally dye all of your lingerie black by throwing the wrong piece in with the rest. Let your lingerie sit in your tub or sink for 20 minutes with your Le Blanc wash and then roll it in a clean towel to press the water out or gently squeeze out the water by hand. Then all you have to do is hang it or lay it flat to dry.

I've been getting ready for a trip this week, which means I've been thinking a lot about how to whittle my lingerie and loungewear wardrobe down to a manageable half a suitcase. Every year I have a few months where I start to prep my wardrobe for the upcoming season. For me, May is a transitional month - a month where the summer heat hasn’t quite settled in and Spring pastels are still on my every day list. I’ve been noticing I need to pep up my lingerie wardrobe for this summer lately, as well as decide what pieces I can carry over in to the hot months.

For me, it’s all about making sure you have the basics covered and a few pieces you know will just be perfect for lounging (because really, that is was summer is all about). Here are my top choices from Bella Bella Boutique that I think are just right for transitional pieces from Spring to Summer.

Even as a longtime spa devotee, I’d never heard of a massage candle until recently. It turns out they’re becoming the massage therapist’s hottest secret and now I know why. Unlike traditional body massage oil that can be chilly on bare skin, a massage candle provides perfectly warmed oil heated close to a person’s body temperature. The fact that the warmed wax can be poured directly onto your body or that of a partner’s also provides an ordinary massage with sensual anticipation and potential.

Curious, I took the newest massage candle on the market and a video crew to my favorite massage experts at The Raven Spa, renowned in Los Angeles for their Thai massage, bodywork & healing. Massage therapist Zine heated the candle for about an hour to create a large pool of liquid wax. The specially formulated wax for the Love. Lust. Light. candle is made with organic jojoba, shea, and soy butters; and is paraben-free and phthalate free. It is scented with an aphrodisiac vanilla aroma and comes in a ceramic container with a pour spout on both ends, which prevents spilling and makes it more ergonomic than other massage candles. Next, Zine slowly poured the candle wax into her own hand and then massaged it into her client’s back. Zine always warms up the body at the start of her massages and found the candle an effective and simple way to help her do that. The oils absorbed immediately and did not leave any greasy feeling on the skin. She also tried pouring the wax directly onto her client’s skin and I took the client’s soft moan as a sign of deep approval. The client later told me, “The warmed oil is incredibly soothing and pleasurable as it drips down your back. The whole massage experience was surprising and wonderful.”

Everyone is starting to stock up on their spring and summer lingerie, but what really excites me about the warmer months is how easy it is to practically live in loungewear. Stretch silk is my new lingerie fabric of choice. It's incredibly comfortable, feels soft and cool against your skin, and it's also easy to clean. The Fab Fit Formula:

1) Your best bra fit is an important part of your physical and emotional healthy. Not only can proper bra fit be a matter of self-esteem, but it's also an important element in a woman's physical health. Many women suffer from chronic headaches, backeches and shoulder pain as a result of ill-fitting bras. Even worse, large-busted women who carry too much of the weight of their breasts in their straps can end up with divots in their shoulders and occasionally humps in their backs. The most common ill-effects are those women fear most - namely, sagging and stretch marks.

2) Bodies are not one-size-fits-all so bra measurement systems shouldn't be either. If a single bra measurement system worked, women would not get their size wrong so often. Too often, when women attempt these uniform measuring approaches to bra size, they end up assuming that subsequent failures are somehow their fault. Many women even presume that their bodies are somehow "wrong". That message is not only harmful to women, but also bad for the industry. It's important that understand that bras exist for their unique bodies, it's just a matter of finding them.

3) Focus on fit instead of size. There are few standards for fit when it comes to bras. Sizes differ from brand to brand, and even within brands there are differences from design to design. Not every style is right for every body type, and how a woman carries her breast tissue can have an impact on wheter or not a bra works on her body. And then there are the cup size progression differences among brands...no wonder women are confused and frustrated! The way around the dilemma is to ignore size and focus on fit. In other words, you don't have a bra size.

4) Assess your fit in the band, cup, bridge, and straps. Understanding how these key elements of the bra should fit is the meat and potatoes of finding a bra that will have women looking and feeling amazing.

5) Determine your body type. Even ten years ago, the selection of bras was much narrower than today. Boutiques and lingerie departments are now stocked with brands specifically designed for petitem full-busted and full figured women. Cup sizes range from AAA to N...and continue to expand. When women understand their individual bodies and what works best for them, it becomes easier to optimize fit, and the shopping experience.

6) Always try on a bra to know how it fits your unique body. At the end of the day, it's great fr a women to understand her body type and how a bra should feel...but that's all theory. Fit ultimately comes down to how a bra works on a woman's body, and that means trying it on. A retailer who knows thei nventory and how bras fit a variety of bodies is irreplaceable in the quest from bra brilliance.

7) Buy fewer bras of better quality. The amount of design and engineering that goes into a qality garment is often misunderstood and underappreciated by customers. A bra that fits well - and continues to fit properly over the life of a bra - means investing in quality. In the end, a quality garment will provide better value because it will maintain its ability to lift and support for a longer eriod of time.

8) Take care of your bras to get the most mileage for your money. Lingerie requires particular care in order to maximize its lifetime. When you're investing in quality garments, it is important to take care of them properly. Women often ask how long a bra should last, and the answer must be "it depends", because the effort women make (or don't) in laundering their garments has to be factored into the equation.
